On the heels of its weekend theatrical opening, “The Time Traveler’s Wife” now appears headed to the small screen, as well, as an ABC series, says TheWrap.com.

“Friends” creator Marta Kauffman and Warner Bros. Television are adapting the story, which began as a 2003 novel, for a weekly series. Kauffman will write and produce. The New Line movie version took in box-office grosses of nearly $20 million in its opening weekend.

  1. I find this a bit of an odd move…. I didn’t think the film was very successful; (see my review at: http://www.youtube.com/gabndad). But perhaps a series format will flesh out the weaknesses, and I suppose could prove fairly engaging!

  2. Maybe ABC should just buy the series JOURNEYMAN that NBC canceled after only one season two years ago!
It was much better than the TTW movie and would’ve succeeded under a network that could recognize quality shows.

  3. I agree. I had read the book years ago and when Journeyman came out I thought it was a much better take on the same story. ABC, NBC is knocking on your door saying ‘Been there. Done that.’

  4. Can we say a “Journeymen.”
