‘American Idol’s’ newest guest judge, Victoria Beckham, already has reasons to mix it up with Simon Cowell on the show.

"He is the only man in the music industry who turned down the Spice Girls and said we would never work," said Beckham, who was better known as Posh Spice when she was with that girl group.

Beckman made her remarks on Ryan Seacrest’s syndicated radio show on Friday, Aug. 7, according to MTV.com.

She also said she thinks Cowell is "very funny."

Nigel Lythgoe, the former showrunner of "Idol"–and now a judge on "So You Think You Can Dance"– told reporters at the summer press tour of the TV Critic’s Assn. on Aug. 6th that Beckham was "very witty" and he thought she’d be good on ‘Idol.’

When asked if Beckham might permanently replace the departing judge Paula Abdul, Lythgoe, who is from the UK, he said that he wasn’t sure that the show needed two judges who are Brits.  "It’s called American Idol, isn’t it?" he quipped.

  1. without Paula, there will be no idol, no matter how many (or not) brits there are as judges.
