Emmys Tighten Conflict-of-Interest Voting Rules

Aug 5, 2009  •  Post A Comment

Production company and network executives who are eligible to vote for Emmys will not be able to vote in program categories wherein their company or network has a nominiee, says The Hollywood Reporter.

"The overall percentage reduction of judges caused by the new restriction is about 3%, so we still have very large panels, e.g., Comedy and Drama Series are still at or above the 500-judge mark," Senior VP of Awards at the TV Academy John Leverence told THR. "Therefore the practical effect of the new restriction is at or about nil, but regardless, the Board wanted to emulate the example of Caesar’s wife."
