‘Guiding Light’s’ Lesbian Love Story to Live on Online

Aug 25, 2009  •  Post A Comment

Even though CBS will air the final "Guiding LIght" episode Sept. 18, the lesbian romance on the show between Olivia and Natalia will go on — in a way, reports the New York Times.

Actress Crystal Chappell, who plays Olivia, is going to continue the gay romance online in a new show called "Venice," enlisting Jessica Leccia — Natalia — to join her and promising thousands of fans that the couple will be getting physical.

  1. Absolutely fantastic article!! Congratulations Crystal and thanks for doing so much to represent the gay community in such a positive and life affirming way!!
You truly deserve the accolades for the unique approach you and Kimmy and Hope have brought to the creation, production and marketing of Venice the Series, and I wish you all the luck in the world as it airs and takes the internet by storm!!

  2. CBS and PG failed to capitalize on the future and have let a legend die rather than ride the wave of change. Crystal Chappell is however as fearless an entrepreneur and visionary as she is an actor. She recognized that the web is tomorrow, not yesterday, and even tried to get the Ancient Deadweights (CBS, PG) to see the obvious, to no avail. So she will take her super talented self, her blossoming co-star with whom she sizzles, the super hot Keener, and others to the web, where her adoring fan base is eagerly waiting to spend their money on sposnored products. She is a super star, and Venice will be revolutionary. Many of us in the non 18-34 year old demographic have MONEY TO SPEND, and we appreciate being appreciated. We also have a long memory, PG.CBS!

  3. Venice is going to be awesome! With the amazing talant of Crystal Chappell and the lovely Jessica Leccia, not to mention the other cast members already announced, it will be in a league of it’s own!

  4. Congratulations to Crystal Chappell and the team at Venice for realizing that there is a need for a web series that will revolve around family and oh by the way the central character is gay. Its about time we see a series like Venice!
With Crystal Chappell’s talent and that of the cast, Venice be a success!

  5. Unbelievable that CBS didn’t take up the offer to produce a Natalia/Olivia web series online for the fans. Guiding Light is one of the most iconic brands in tv history and instead of finding a way to continue to exploit that brand (which they certainly could have done quite cheaply) they do nothing. Such a slap in the face to the millions of viewers who have supported cbs through Guiding light for decades.

  6. Amen! Couldn’t have said it better. I will pay anything to help out Crystal and Venice series.

  7. Truly hope that it don’t take off. That’s tue problem with the soaps and why veiwership is now. One thing to be in a homosexual relationship but to continue to push it on people who do not want to see it or be a part of it is selfish and self serving. I hope it is a flop.

  8. Fisrt of all, l love your template, and will subscribe to your rss to keep up with writing. l do enjoy reading them.
