David Letterman was in repeats on CBS last week but he still eked out a win over originals of NBC’s “The Tonight Show With Conan O’Brien” in total viewers, reports the New York Times.

Letterman averaged 2.947 million viewers to O’Brien’s 2.940 million. That was a jump of 300,000 from the previous week for the NBC show. But the fact that Letterman reruns beat "Tonigh" show originals in overall viewers is something that hasn’t happened in 14 years.

On the other side of the equation, the Times reports, O’Brien "beat Mr. Letterman by 62 percent in the main ad-selling category of viewers between the ages of 18 and 49 and by a whopping 138 percent in the youngest group, viewers between 18 and 34."

Furthermore, the article states, the median age of someone watching O’Brien is currently 46.8-years-old. The median age of a Letterman viewer is currently 57-years-old.
