Who Would’ve Thought: In The Midst of a Terrible Ad Environment, TV Stations and Local Cable Are Falling in Love With Obama’s Health Care Plan

Well, well, well, an unintended stimulus package for local TV stations and local cable. And it comes from an unexpected source: President Obama’s proposal to reform health care.

Turns out that as the debate over health care reform has heated up that both sides in the battle  have begun swamping the airwaves with ads, to the tune of $57 million in ad spending in six months, much of it in just the last month-and-a-half, reports the New York Times.

If the pace continues, the battle could end up as “one of the biggest public policy ad wars ever,” Evan Tracey, chief operating officer of the Campaign Media Analysis Group, told the paper.
