EchoStar was ordered by the U.S. District Court in Texas to pay nearly $200 million to TiVo for contempt of a court order in the two firms’ long-running patent battle over DVR technology, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Echostar was originally the owner of the Dish Network before the two entities were split into two separate companies.

TiVo had been seeking $974.5 million.

EchoStar is appealing the case.
