The Sept. 20 broadcast of the Emmy Awards is returning to an old tradition of live music in a bid to liven up the show, says Variety.

Producer Don Mischer said he’s assembling a 17-piece all-star band of jazz and rock performers who will be onstage throughout the show, not in the pit. The broadcast hasn’t had live music since 2004.

Band members will include guitarists Dean Parks and Ray Parker Jr., saxophonist Tom Scott, bassist Darryl Jones of the Rolling Stones and percussionist Lenny Castro.
