Estelle Getty’s 1987 Emmy for supporting comedy actress for her work in "The Golden Girls" was put up for sale on eBay last week and the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences wants it removed, reports Variety.

The statuette is being offered by a seller of fine art, with an initial asking price of $15,000. As of  this morning (Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2009), there were no bids.

Academy policy is that if honorees don’t want the statue anymore it must be returned. Getty died last year.

  1. That’s a shame. And why would somebody want to buy an award that they didn’t win? It will be interesting to see if any bids are placed on it.

  2. It’s a memento. A keepsake. Why shouldn’t a big fan of Sophia get to own it? The EMMY folks should quit trying to emulate the Oscars crew.

  3. I By no means knew that. Thanks for that info. I think your weblog is going to perform well. Persons will often return to study this form of content.Excellent career.
