Former Oregon Senator Gordon H. Smith has been chosen as president and CEO of the National Association of Broadcasters, according to TVNewscheck.com.
Smith, a Republican, will officially join the organization on Nov. 1 after meeting with the NAB board in Dallas in October.
He succeeds David Rehr, who stepped down last spring after three years in the job.
Smith will be introduced to broadcasters and make brief remarks at the NAB Radio Show in Philadelphia next week.
