Indecency Complaints to FCC Soared in March; Is ‘Family Guy’s’ ‘Gay Orgy’ Episode to Blame?

The FCC logged 245,241 complaints in the first quarter, a 246% increase from the fourth quarter of 2008, with indecency complaints soaring in March, says B&C.

The commission received 179,997 indecency complaints in March alone, up from a few hundred in both January and February.

Although the agency doesn’t break out the source of complaints, the Parents Television Council previously told members to protest a March 8 episode of “Family Guy” in which “Fox treated viewers to everything from an ‘11-way’ gay orgy to baby Stewie eating a bowl of cereal with horse sperm instead of milk,” PTC president Tim Winter said at the time.
