Longtime News Director at Station in Nation’s No. 1 Market Unexpectedly Resigns

The news director at a major New York TV station, who has held her job for the past 10 years, has unexpectedly resigned, the New York Daily News reports.

Karen Scott has resigned her post as news director of Tribune Co.’s flagship WPIX in New York. In total, Scott had been with the station 16 years.

No reason was given. The departure of the well-respected Scott comes at an awkward time as the station prepares to launch a new 6:30 p.m. newscast in two weeks.

  1. I’ll give you two words as to why this hard working, highly respected journalist-executive left: Randy Michaels
Tribune is doomed to follow the sad demise of broadcasting as exhibited by what RM did at Jacor and Clear Channel, if he is allowed to continue.
Give him his final millions and be rid of him before it’s really too late.
