Maura Tierney has decided to leave NBC’s "Parenthood" because she is undergoing treatment for breast cancer, Variety reports.
NBC, which had already pushed back the series from a fall to midseason to accommodate Tierney, plans to recast the role, which Variety called the "cornerstone" of the ensemble family drama.
Tierney is expected to recover, NBC said Thursday, but her treatment plan conflicts with the Universal Media Studios show.
