The new NAB President, former Senator Gordon Smith, in his first address after being named to head the association, told an NAB Radio Show audience that broadcasting is a “higher calling,” B&C reports.
Smith, once a Republican senator from Oregon, takes over Nov. 1. He said his job will be "to make sure policymakers and the rest of America understand the many ways broadcasters give back to their communities," according to the report

Broadcasters long ago abandoned any pretense at professional ethics and standards. Anything goes, the more outrageous the better, all in the name of profits and ratings.
