GE Chairman Voices Displeasure with NBC Primetime

GE’s chairman and CEO Jeffrey Immelt told the Web 2.0 Summit attendees that he’s not happy with NBC’s primetime performance this season, the Los Angeles Times reports.

"I hate being No. 4," he said in response to a question about whether the network’s performance led to the discussion about selling a controlling stake in NBC Universal to Comcast. He didn’t say it did, adding that "I assume we can be No. 1 again” and noting that GE is still “quite comfortable" owning NBCU.

  1. ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS IT’S ABOUT TIME SOME ONE IS TAKING A LOOK AT THEM WITH ALL THE COPY CAT SHOWS!! NOTHING NEW!! SAME OLD!! SAME OLD !! GLAD TO SEE SOMEONE IS WAKING UP I KNOW IT;S KIND OF LAT BUT I THINK IT MAY BE A LITTLE LATE!!!

  2. Jay Leno in prime time is turning out to be an unfortunate mistake for all of the NBC affiliates news programs at 11. I am trying to think of one NBC show that I watch. No…oh, that’s right, I don’t have one. But I did check out Leno when he was on later. I’m looking for scripted entertainment and I’m finding some real favorites at 10:00, multiple choices instead. Leno isn’t funny, he is arogant, sarcastic and his jokes come across as mean spirited. If you don’t want to watch it on Monday, you won’t want to watch it 5 nights, which represent 5 hours that you don’t watch NBC. Five hours of an unpopular show is a considerable chunk out of any network viewership.
