Julia Barr, a two-time Emmy winner for her role as Brooke English on ABC’s "All My Children," is heading back to the soap in January, 2010, for the show’s 40th anniversary, reports SoapCentral.com.

Barr, who is a 30-year vet of the show, has been off the canvas for two years without explanation and this appearance will fill in the gaps.

"All My Children’s" anniversary coincides with the soap’s move to studios in Los Angeles. Also confirmed for return appearances are Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos.

  1. Thank you for acknowledging Julia Barr’s return to AMC, even though it is just for the 40th anniversary of ALL MY CHILDREN. What a formidable actress we have in Ms. Barr. She has been short-shrifted so often yet we long-time AMC followers know she is as integral to the show as David Canary’s Adam Chandler, the late Ruth Warrick’s Phoebe Tyler Wallingford, and the great James Mitchell’s Palmer Courtlandt. Writers over the years have been paralyzed over what to write for her, so the most recent have taken the easy way out by writing her off, much to the viewers’ chagrin. Brooke English is a dynamic character, with so much to offer, and the character as well as the actress who has made her such an amazing presence, both deserve their due. AMC – take a cue from your better competitor Y&R – take care of your veteran characters and their quintessential performers, and give them the time of day.
