The American Film Institute has issued its list of the Top 10 TV shows of 2009, including Fox’s breakout hit "Glee" and — in a surprise — the Starz comedy, "Party Down," reports HitFix.com.

The Top 10 also included: AMC’s "Mad Men," CBS’ "The Big Bang Theory," HBO’s "Big Love," NBC/DirecTV’s "Friday Night Lights,"  ABC’s "Modern Family," HBO’s "The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency," Showtime’s "Nurse Jackie" and HBO’s "True Blood."
