FCC Asked to Intervene to Guarantee No Orange Bowl Blackout

Dec 18, 2009  •  Post A Comment

Iowa Democratic Rep. Bruce Braley asked the FCC to intervene to make sure his constituents can see the Orange Bowl college football game on Jan. 5, which will feature the Iowa Hawkeyes and Georgia Tech, Multichannel News reports.

In a letter to FCC chairman Julius Genachowski Thurday, the Congressman noted that a retransmission consent agreement between Mediacom and Sinclair Broadcast Group is scheduled to expire Dec. 31. He wants the FCC to back Mediacom’s request for mandatory interim carriage, while the FCC considers a complaint that Mediacom made against Sinclair in the ongoing dispute.
