‘GMA’ to Veer Toward News With Stephanopoulos as Co-Host

ABC’s “Good Morning America” plans to increase its news quotient and get rid of some of the fluff, reports B&C.

The pending changes come with the arrival of George Stephanopoulos as co-host, replacing Diane Sawyer, who is moving to “World News.”

Senior executive producer Jim Murphy says the changes will be “tweaks, not an explosion.”

  1. I didn’t notice any “veering” toward hard news this AM – there was a good 5 minutes on Tiger Woods in the first half hour. Not my idea of hard news – or even useful news…..

  2. Yeah, but it’s still ‘news’ compared to fluff like which hairstyles are in right now.
If GMA were to dedicate more time to real hard news, I guarantee you they’d LOSE viewers. These shows need an appropriate mix of news and lighter stuff.
