The sale of The Hollywood Reporter, along with the music trade Billboard and six other Nielsen Business Media publications, has been finalized, the Los Angeles Times reports.
As expected, the new owner is a consortium of investors called e5 Global Media consisting of financial services firm Guggenheim Partners and Pluribus Capital Management, a private equity fund led by James Finkelstein; Matthew Doull, former associate publisher of Wired UK, and George Green, former chief executive of Hearst Magazines International.
Finkelstein’s News Communications owns such publications as Roll Call and the "Who’s Who" directories. Finkelstein also owns the Thompson Publishing Group
Lachlan Murdoch, the son of News Corp. Chairman Rupert Murdoch, who was previously reported to be part of the acquisition, was not involved in the final deal, the Times said.
Editor & Publisher and Kirkus Reviews, Nielsen’s publishing trades, were not part of the deal and are being shut down,
