Little First-Day Gain for ‘GMA’ With Stephanopoulos

Dec 16, 2009  •  Post A Comment

ABC’s “Good Morning America” saw only a small audience bump on the first day of co-host George Stephanopoulos, B&C reports.

On Monday, the show drew 4.6 million viewers, just under the 4.8 million who watched Diane Sawyer’s last day on Friday. Both were just above the show’s 4.5 million average for the week.

By comparison, nearly 7 million people tuned in to see Meredith Vieira’s first “Today” show broadcast in September 2006.

  1. Why should anyone be surprised about low ratings for George Who? No background in journalism, no solid TV Credits…
Owes his entire existance to his original political appointment by an unpopular ex-president.
There are probably hundreds of professional TV hosts (even 90-Year-old me) out there who would pull in better ratings through natural talent, and not “who you know.”
