Repercussions from Adam Lambert’s AMA Performance Continue

Dec 1, 2009  •  Post A Comment

The repercussions from singer Adam Lambert’s American Music Awards performance, in which he engaged in simulated oral sex, continue, Reuters reports.

ABC, which aired the awards show and edited the program for West Coast, said it will review its advance preparation procedures for live performance broadcasts. The network later canceled the singer’s scheduled “Good Morning America” appearance.

Disney/ABC Television Group President Anne Sweeney told Reuters that the network will now get contractual assurances from artists that their live shows will correspond to the rehearsal versions.

"We certainly don’t want to suppress artistry at any level, but we also have to be very cognizant of who our audience is," Sweeney said at the Reuters Media Summit on Monday, adding that she supported canceling the “GMA” appearance.
