Golden Globes host Ricky Gervais said he’ll be working with a minimal script at the awards next month, the Associated Press reports.

"I want to host it a little bit more like someone from the Rat Pack would host," Gervais said, with not too many prepared comedy bits. But, he added, "If you’re not prepared at all, it can be very flimsy and a bit self-indulgent."

He said the stars in the audience can expect “gentle ribbing.” He’s the first host the show has had since 1995.
