New Jersey beach town Seaside Heights, home to MTV’s "Jersey Shore," said in a statement on Monday, Dec. 28, that it "did not solicit, promote or participate in the filming" of the show, the Associated Press reports.
The town says it did, however, issue a permit allowing filming of the program, which has lost advertisers as politicians and Italian-American groups call for it to be pulled from the air for what they say are its promotion of negative stereotyping.
