The writers of the indie hit "500 Days of Summer" have had their pilot "Friends with Benefits" picked up by NBC, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The pilot, from 20th TV and Imagine TV, was passed on by ABC before NBC picked it up.

"Friends with Benefits" is the story of five friends searching for the real thing in love and relationships, but settling right now with the perks of single life, like friends with benefits.

Screenwriters Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber are fine tuning the script. David Dobkin ("Wedding Crashers") will direct the single camera comedy pilot.
