Feb 26, 2010  •  Post A Comment

Animal Planet is ordering an additional 14 hour-long episodes of "Pit Boss," B&C reports.

The unscripted series follows "Shorty" Rossi, a little person and former convict, who is now involved in rescuing abused pit bulls in the Los Angeles area.

"Boss" premiered earlier this year, and its sixth and final episode of the first season is set to air on Feb. 27. The second batch of episodes are slated to air this summer.

  1. I’m really please to know that there is someone like shorty who can rescue pit bulls and past the word out that these kid of dogs are not mean it’s people who own them and turn them to being mean I own 2 pit’s mother and son I love them keep up the great job

  2. Keep dreaming…
I like the fact that your Pit Pulls haven’t attacked anybody YET, but statistically speaking, your argument doesn’t hold water.
    * Pit Bulls, originally bred to fight, are particularly deadly, and widely kept as “pets.” Their popularity is strange given their homicidal history and aggressive in-bred traits, but that is seemingly part of the appeal. With its powerful jaws, thick skull and muscular legs the American Pit Bull Terrier (and related breeds) makes short work of children and adults it attacks often maiming them for life. The very name “pit bull” is used in our language to signify a singularly tenacious state of being.
This breed is variously cited as being responsible for nearly a third of all fatal dog attacks in the United States, in part due to its tenacity in a fight. Pit bulls cause one-third of dog-bite related fatalities while only make up less than 2% of the dog population. Because of the deaths, maulings and serious injuries inflicted by Pit Bulls, many countries worldwide ban these dogs altogether or require licenses for ownership of them. In response to many high profile maulings and fatal attacks by Pit Bulls, many US cities and towns have specifically targeted the breed with legislation restricting ownership and increasing penalties on owners for attacks made by their Pit Bulls. Pit Bulls are often responsible for attacking and killing other dog breeds as well as cats and small pets. Police officers often need to shoot and kill this breed in order to subdue it after attacks on humans or other animals in US cities. In recent years several owners of these dogs in the United States have been criminally prosecuted in homicide cases. Sadly, many of the owners of these deadly dogs do not possess insurance and the maimed victims go uncompensated. Apologists for these vicious dogs abound online, but facts are facts. These dogs have little or no business being pets in anyone’s household they are simply too aggressive and dangerous.

  3. I don’t believe that I have ever heard any of these comments on your tv show. Am I mistaken? I thought your buddy big daddy was a pit bull. I don’t think that it is impossible to have this breed as a companion, however I do know that it requires more responsibility on the part of the owner.I own a red nose pit bull and she & I have been together since her birth. I am amazed that someone who claims to be a pack leader and love animals would have such a negative attitude. Sincerely,Jessie

  4. did you see the caesar millan post? what do you think about it?

  5. The comment “These dogs have little or no business being pets in anyone’s household they are simply too aggressive and dangerous.” I believe is completely & utterly false. I have owned “pit bulls” since I was a child & never in my 32 yrs have I experience any form a negativity from this breed. You can debate statistics until you blue in the face & make propaganda base comments as well. ” Pit bulls” much like any other animal can be aggressive. However its all in how you raise them, teach them & approciate them, just as you would a child. So many people place sterotypical beleifs upon the breed that it is truely sad. Someone is always going to point the fingure & place blame where its not needed. No one every wants to look at this breed beyound the negative. No one ever stops to think that this breed was one of the first to be a search & rescue dog in WWII. No one thinks abt how intellegent, social, emotional. loyal this breed is. Shame on you! Take a long hard look in the mirror. You can stop this by educateding yourself & experiencing the love, compassion, loyalty be becoming an owner yourself. Stop BSL. Dont judge the Breed, judge the owner. Its 2010 we have made leeps & stides in over coming racial equality… So why arent we doing so with this breed? As far as myself and my Bulls we will pray for you, pray that a “pit bull” touches your life as they have mine in such a remarkable way. God Bless.

  6. I do not think the posting above is actually from Cesar Millan, the Dog whisperer. I think it is posted by an imposter & a closed minded individual.

  7. I think that you may be right. At work today I just read that the dog whisperers’Daddy just passed away. If it was him I feel like a jerk. Iam happy however to hear from others that love their bulls. I will admit their are some obstacles that river and I need to overcome but I love her and she loves me. Would love to hear more from you.
