Attention Actresses: If You Think You’re as Good as Helen Mirren, Have Your Agent Contact NBC

One of Helen Mirren’s signature roles was playing the lead in the British TV series "Prime Suspect."

NBC hasn’t been able to find an actress to take the lead role in its remake of that show, so the project is being postponed until summer, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

According to the report, the NBC version, written by Hank Steinberg, who created "Without a Trace," is about "a fearless female detective as she investigates complex mysteries in a politically loaded big city."

  1. WHY????
This is why NBC is in the condition it is in. CREATE WHAT USED TO BE CALLED AN ORIGINAL SERIES CONCEPT!!
“Prime Suspect” doesn’t need to be remade any more than “The Bionic Woman”, “Melrose Place”, “Beverly Hills, 90210” or “Hawaii Five-O”.
Next up, an update of “I Love Lucy”. THAT will go over VERY well.
C’mon programmers! STEP IT UP! Original new series can be created and launched economically and still generate an audience.
It’s like the networks are throwing in the towel and conceding to cable because “they can get away with more”. Get over it and do better by your viewers.

  2. But if it were remade by NBC, Alfre Woodard would be excellent in this role.
