Brit TV Hit ‘Top Gear’ Getting US Adaptation…Again

Feb 17, 2010  •  Post A Comment

Last year, NBC had the idea of adapting the British TV hit show "Top Gear" for American viewers with Adam Carolla as one of the stars, but the pilot failed and "Top Gear" remained in neutral.

Today, Jalopnik.com is reporting that "Top Gear" will get another go in an Americanized version on The History Channel. The network is commited to at least 10 episodes, and Carolla may still be connected as one of the three hosts the article says, citing "sources."

  1. This is doomed to failure unless the presenters actually know something about cars – does Mr Carolla? – the ideal choice would have been Jay Leno and I always thought that he should have incorporated his love of autos into his failed show. He did, briefly, but in a way that could only have been orchestrated by some know-nothing “suit” at the network. It’ll be interesting to see what happens, but if the network’s try to (a) Let advertising intrude on the integrity of the opinion – or ‘drive’ the choices for subject matter, or (b) produce a show that their “research” shows is exactly what viewers want, well, we can say goodbye to this program pretty quickly.

  2. I like this sport. You like it? what you think of it? If you have some time, it may wish to continue your article to share with you the happiness.
