Emmerich’s ‘2012’ TV Sequel Explodes

Feb 24, 2010  •  Post A Comment

Directore Roland Emmerich’s now has doubts that the TV sequel to his Earth-destroying blockbuster film "2012" will get made, reports MovieWeb.

Emmerich’s plan to make "2012" the next "Lost" was too costly and complicated for TV. The show would have followed survivors of the movie trying to rebuild Earth in Africa.

"It was just too big for TV, what we wanted to do," Emmerich said. "Grey’s Anatomy" producer Mark Gordon is looking to try and lower costs to get the show produced, but Emmerich said he isn’t at all confident the show will get made.

  1. What’s a Directore?

  2. Glad you asked. I’m a bit surprised you are not familiar with the term, Anonymous, since it comes from the language of the Anonymous tribe of Hollywood scribes who settled in the Azusa area of Southern California back in the early days of motion pictures. For reasons that have been lost to time, evidently it was their habit to accompany many nouns–especially those that designated job titles in the movie industry–with a grunted “eh?” After many years that grunt became shortened, in the writing of the term, to “e”. Thus in the sentence you refer to, one would read it as “Director, eh? Ronald Emmerich…” Yes, it’s somewhat archaic, I know, but we thought we’d have a little fun with ye ol’ language today.
The only other explanation I can think of is that it was a typo. Nah, couldn’t have been…
