Lawsuit Fails to Stop DVD Release of ‘Jersey Shore’

Feb 23, 2010  •  Post A Comment

The release of MTV’s “Jersey Shore” on DVD is expected to proceed today, after a lawsuit failed to shut it down, TMZ reports.

Stephen Izzo—who was laid flat by the show’s Ronnie in one episode of the reality series—argued in a civil lawsuit that the show was profiting off the alleged attack, for which Ronnie was charged with assault. Izzo’s suit is for invasion of privacy and also argues that the show made unauthorized use of his likeness and image.

The judge in the case ruled that the DVD release could go ahead because Izzo’s face isn’t recognizable during the run-in.

The two sides are due back in court on March 5.
