CBS’ “Hawaii Five-O” remake has found its new Detective Steve McGarrett, the part Jack Lord made famous.

Alex O’Loughlin, who previously starred in CBS’ “Moonlight" and this season’s short-lived “Three Rivers,” will play the role, the Hollywood Report says.

  1. Well, no matter what my opinion of this casting is (for the record – it’s not positive) it can’t be worse than putting Gary Busey in that Cannell pilot in 1997. Good for O’Loughlin, though. After playing a vampire & being inside a hospital for two series, he’ll finally be getting some sun. I’m sure Hawaii is hoping like hell the series takes off. With LOST leaving, there’s going to be a lot of local talent out of work. Besides, I’m sure they’d like go back to having Hawaii be portrayed as Hawaii on television and not a trans-dimensional, time-traveling island that you have to book travel arrangements through Doctor Who to reach.

  2. Interesting layout on your blog. I really enjoyed reading it and also I will be back to read more in the future.
