Storm of Controversy: ESPN’s Kornheiser Gets Two-Week Suspension for Calling His Colleague a ‘Holden Caulfield Fantasy’

ESPN suspended “Pardon the Interruption” host Tony Kornheiser for two weeks for comments he made about the wardrobe of another ESPN host, Hannah Storm, the New York Daily News reports.

Last week, when the “SportsCenter” host wore a fitted red sweater, a plaid skirt and nearly knee-high red boots, Kornheiser called it “a horrifying, horrifying outfit,” adding, "She’s got on red go-go boots and a Catholic-school plaid skirt. … Way too short for somebody in her 40s or maybe early 50s by now. She’s got on her typically very, very tight shirt. She looks like she has sausage casing wrapping around her upper body.”

According to other media accounts Kornheiser then added, "She’s what I would call a Holden Caulfield fantasy at this point."

Kornheiser, in announcing his own suspension, called his remarks both “intemperate” and “stupid,” adding that "It seems to me without any question that I broke the rules, and this is the punishment that’s come."
