Tiger Statement Today: ‘Up to Me to Start Living a Life of Integrity.’ He Repeatedly Apologizes; Attacks Media

Feb 19, 2010  •  Post A Comment

Tiger Woods finally spoke publicly today about the scandal that has rocked his life. He continually apologized and took responsibility for his actions. He asked that his fans not give up on him.

He also attacked the media for not leaving his wife or kids alone.

Woods reitereated that what has happened to him is a private matter between him and his family, though he acknowledged how his actions had also upset his fans, friends and business partners.

The one specific incident he addressed concerned press reports that his wife, Elin, had attacked him on Thanksgiving night. He said that wasn’t true.

He also acknowledged that he had in-patient therapy for 45 days, from some time in December until early February.

Woods also said that here on out the way to judge him won’t be based on what he says, but on how he behaves. He said that previously he felt he could behave anyway he wanted.

He did not state a date nor the name of a tournament when he would return to play professional golf.
