Animal Planet and Mike Tyson have drawn the attention of investigators from the Brooklyn District Attorney’s  office regarding the proposed series, "Taking On Tyson," reports TMZ.com.

The program, in which Tyson cares for, breeds and races pigeons, has been targeted by PETA, as well.

The Brooklyn D.A., after receiving a letter claiming that the show violated New York law, is questioning whether the production may have been involved in illegal gambling.

An Animal Planet spokesperson told EW’s Popwatch, " “Regarding PETA’s latest allegations, I wanted to clarify that for Animal Planet’s ‘Taking on Tyson’ show, there have never been any plans for wagering on the pigeon races. We have not yet begun filming but, rest assured, all of the pigeons that we will feature in the program are cherished and respected by their owners, including Mr. Tyson. Animal Planet will honor that respect and care in our production and in how these beautiful creatures are treated.”
