C-SPAN Opens Up Video Vault To Online Viewers

Mar 17, 2010  •  Post A Comment

For years, C-SPAN has been putting cameras in places where the public has never gone before, like the U.S. Senate and Congress, and now those years of footage will be available for the public like never before, reports B&C.

Starting Marcy 17, C-SPAN is launching a free, searchable video library online covering every single program aired on C-SPAN since 1987, as well as 10,000 hours from pre-1987. The earliest tapes are dated 1979, when C-Span began.

Viewers will be able to make clips of shows and Congressional footage and embed them on their web sites. However, full-length clips of shows will need to be linked to C-SPAN’s web site.
