"American Idol" continued its domination of broadcast television by lifting Fox to another nightly ratings win, essentially keeping pace with last year’s numbers, tvbythenumbers.com reports.

"Idol" posted an 8.2 rating in the 18-49 year old demographic, off 5% from last week, but flat from this time last year. Coupled with a "Glee" repeat that did a 3.0 in adults 18-49, "Idol" gave Fox a 5.6 rating average for the night.

Wrote TVByTheNumbers’ Bill Gorman,"I’m surprised by the relatively strong performance of the Glee repeat that followed Idol. I think that set up is going to produce huge ratings for the new episodes."

Second-place CBS took home a 3.4 rating for the night. "NCIS" dipped 5% to a season-low 3.8 rating, while "NCIS: LA" increased 13% and "The Good Wife" gained 4% to a 3.5 and 2.8 rating, respectively.

NBC’s "Parenthood" shed 16% from its premiere last week, taking away a 2.6 rating. "The Biggest Loser" also dropped, off 6% last week to a 3.0 rating. NBC placed third on the night with a 2.9 rating.

ABC’s "Lost" was up one-tenth a ratings point from last week to a 4.3 rating, while the cancelled "the forgotten" limped away with a 1.5 rating, down 12% from its last original episode in February. ABC was fourth with a 2.4 average rating in the 18-49 year old demographic.

  1. This season of Idol SUCKS!!!
Especially the way the judges keep trying to convince the stupid amongst the viewing public that this season, (and it’s contestants,) are “the best contestants ever!!” The problem is it’s just not true. Not just a blatant lie, but the judges don’t even believe it themselves. All I can say is that it must sound completely different there in the theater than it does in my home (with a 5.1 Dolby surround home theater system!) Didi, Crystal, and Casey are the only ones that can sing a lick!!!
    Good luck to them…
I stopped watching three weeks ago.
