USA has given the series go-ahead to its second female-centric show this year, The Hollywood Reporter reports.

"Facing Kate," starring Sarah Shahi, follows a lawyer who has become fed up with the bureaucracy and injustice in the legal world and moves to become a mediator. Shahi has starred in both "The L-Word" on Showtime and "Life" on NBC, which ran for two seasons.

"Kate" has been picked up for 11 episodes, along with a 90-minute pilot. The show is being produced by Universal Networks International and Universal Cable Productions.

USA has already given the series greenlight to "Covert Affairs," starring Piper Perabo, in January.
