Expanding the Best Picture category to include 10 titles,  including popular hits such as "Avatar," and "The Blind Side" helped drive 41.3 million viewers to the Academy Awards telecast on ABC yesterday, the Hollywood Reporter reports.

The 41.3 million viewers is the highest since 2005, and marks a second-straight year of viewership gains for the Oscars.

Analysts said the 15 minute ABC blackout on Cablevision in the New York area should have affected the numbers minimally. Meanwhile, the final Barbara Walters Oscar special grabbed 15 million viewers, a series high since 2002.
