The popular star of CBS’s "How I Met Your Mother," Neil Patrick Harris, has taken on a new role; he’ll be palling around with the Smurfs.
Deadline.com reports that Harris is taking the lead live-action role in "Smurfs: The Movie," based on the 1980s cartoon about tiny, blue, forest-dwelling creatures.
The film will be a mixture of live-action and computer-generated images. Jonathan Winters has signed on to voice Papa Smurf.
Harris will begin filming in April, while "Mother" is on hiatus.
