TV stations not affiiated with NBC are worried that if the Comcast-NBCU deal goes through they may not be treated fairly by Comcast.
For example, the CBS affiliate board, in a memo obtained by our friend Harry Jessell at TVNewsCheck, says "The merger would concentrate ‘an unprecedented level of media market power in a single, vertically integrated cable/television broadcast network company.’ "
Furthermore the memo, sent to the entire affiliate body, says "Our specific concern is that Comcast/NBCU would have incentives to competitively disadvantage and discriminate against non-NBC affiliated stations in terms of Comcast’s cable carriage, retransmission consent negotiations and advertising and promotion practices."
Jessell also says that the ABC and Fox affiliate groups want to meet with Comcast to discuss these issues.
