Official Date Set for ‘Avatar’ Release on Blu-Ray and DVD; For Now, 2D Only

Mar 16, 2010  •  Post A Comment

Twentieth Century Fox Home Enterainment has officially set the DVD and Blu-Ray release date of the megahit "Avatar."

It will be the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day, which is Thursday, April 22, 2010.

Only the 2D version of the movie is being released at that time. A number of 3D movies these days also debut with 3D versions when they come out on DVD and Blu-Ray–using the old blue and red tinted glasses–but no such version of "Avatar" is scheduled, at least initially.

It is expected that there will be a "Avatar" home disc eventually made that would be compatible with the new generation of 3D TV sets, which require glasses, but those glasses would be with clear lenses, similar to what patrons at theaters use today to view 3D films such as "Avatar."

Meanwhile, there is still talk that later this year "Avatar" will come back to movie theaters, perhaps  with footage not included the first time around. Avatar bluray box.jpg

  8. The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it’ll do even better in those areas, but for now it’s a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod’s strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.

  13. If you’re still on the fence: grab your favorite earphones, head down to a Best Buy and ask to plug them into a Zune then an iPod and see which one sounds better to you, and which interface makes you smile more. Then you’ll know which is right for you.
