Shakeup of Executives at the Oprah Winfrey Network

Mar 12, 2010  •  Post A Comment

Oprah Winfrey’s OWN has hired three former MTV executives with experience in unscripted series to oversee programming, and is reassigning Jamila Hunter, who was named head of programming for the network last June, reports TheWrap.

Hunter, who was said to have initiated the move, will now focus on specific projects and will get a new title.

Not all the deals are done, TheWrap says, but Rod Aissa and Michele Dix are now expected to head up primetime programming and Drew Tappon will focus on original daytime programming.

Aissa helped launch “The Osbournes” at MTV; most recently he has been an executive at Ashton Kutcher’s Katalyst Films. Dix was previously senior VP of music and talent development for MTV and VH1, while Tappon was once senior VP of original programming and series at MTV; most recently he’s been a senior creative executive at Warner Horizon Television.

  1. If OWN is going to load up its programming with unscripted and reality shows I already know that I DO NOT want it on my cable system.
A little creativity will go a long way!

  2. Love all the opinions expressed here! How is everyone? Love how everyone expresses whatr they feel 🙂
