Simon Cowell To Receive Special Emmy

Simon Cowell, who is either on or owns a number of top TV shows in a number of markets around the world, will receive a special Emmy.

The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences will award Cowell its 2010 International Emmy Founders Award.

According to a statement, " ‘Simon Cowell is an entrepreneur and performer in equal measure. He has built an international empire and in so doing has changed the face of television around the world,’ ” said Bruce Paisner, president and CEO of the International Academy.

Also in a statement, Cowell said, " ‘I’m delighted. I’ve been very lucky to be able to make shows that I love.’ "

Cowell and his company have developed two formats popular in a number of interational markets: the "Got Talent" franchise (as in "Britain’s Got Talent," "America’s Got Talent") and the "X Factor."
