Starz was so high on "Spartacus: Blood and Sand" that it renewed it for a second season before it even premiered season one, but now production has been shut down because the actor in the title character has been diagnosed with cancer, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Andy Whitfield was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He’ll begin immediate treatment of what has been described as a “very treatable” case that was caught early.
