Conan O’Brien’s “Tonight Show” and Jay Leno’s “Tonight Show” could soon be going mano-a- mano in competition for Emmy awards, TheWrap reports.
The TV Academy said that both versions of the show will be eligible for Emmy nominations this summer, although it’s highly unlikely that NBC will pay for any campaign to push O’Brien’s version.
But there’s nothing preventing O’Brien from being a little stinker and backing a campaign himself for the work he and his staff did on his shortlived "Tonight Show," if for no other reason than it would be fun to do and get a ton of media attention.
Conan’s “Tonight Show” will stand a better chance of being nominated if he submits his final episode.
Jay’s “Tonight Show” one once in 1995 and hasn’t been nominated in several years.
