YouTube Going Directly After MySpace

Mar 17, 2010  •  Post A Comment

YouTube plans to go directly after rival MySpace in the music arena, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Google’s online video site is unveiling a new program designed to draw independent musicians, offering individual homepages or channels and a share in ad revenue generated by their videos. The site already offers revenue sharing to artists under contract with record labels.

The new program, called "Musicians Wanted," is scheduled to be unveiled Wednesday, March 17, and targets the News Corp.-owned MySpace in its area of dominance.
