The big screen adaptation of a popular 1960s TV show that’s been talked about for years and years is "I Dream of Jeannie," but now it’s looking more likely to be made, reports the Los Angeles Times.
Writers of "National Treasure," "Bend It Like Beckham," and "Mulan" have all given the series a script treatment, while Lindsay Lohan was once attached to the project as Jeannie. But, it’s never gone anywhere.
"United States of Tara" writer Sheila Callaghan has been given the assignment of taking the material and making it relevant for today’s audiences.
That would mean finding a way for Jeannie, a genie found in a bottle on a beach by astronaut Tony, to not be too subservient and slave-like to her ‘master.’
