Kevin Eubanks has set a date for his previously announced departure from "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" the Hollywood Reporter says.

His last night as the show’s musical director will be on Friday, May 28th.

"After 18 years, I just need a change of pace and see what else is going on. But it’s a really difficult decision because this has become my second home," Eubanks said when Leno asked him to come to the set’s couch and chat, the article reports.\

Eubanks had joined "Tonight" when Leno was named as its host in 1992, and was bumped up to musical director in 1995 when Branford Marsalis left.

  1. Now, hopefully, they will, at last, get a real orchestra on the Tonight Show. They lost their luster when they did not continue with Doc Severinson. Now maybe they can recify that mistake. I’m not holding my breath, though!
