Former News Director at KOIN in Portland, Oregon, Arrested by Feds

It’s a story worthy of a movie of the week. Jeff Alan, a former news director at KOIN in Portland, Oregon has been arrested by Federal agents, according to The Oregonian.

According to the article, "A federal grand jury indictment charges Alan with making false statements to three banks and false statements to multiple government agencies related to use of a false Social Security number since at least 2004."

What makes Alan story compelling is that this isn’t his first run-in with the law. Says the article, "Alan, who was known originally as Jeff Alan Brent, was the subject of a 2009 series of stories in The Oregonian that detailed his varying identities and Social Security numbers. Alan vanished from his family in California in the mid-1980’s. He was officially pronounced dead in a California court in 1993."

The first part of that series of stories can be found here

A tip of the TVWeek cap to Mitch Nolan of Oregon Media Central who alerted us to this story.
