Fox Business’ Claman Says Cable Network May Take 5 Years to Succeed

Apr 6, 2010  •  Post A Comment

Fox Business anchor Liz Claman says she left CNBC thinking it would take the cable business-news network five years to succeed, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Yet since Fox Business wedged itself into the cable lineup in 2007, it hasn’t made much of a dent with viewers, puzzling industry observers as to why Rupert Murdoch’s pet project has failed to take off, the article says.

The network has been adding anchors such as former ABC News’ John Stossel, which Fox executives say is helping boost its audience. Claman, for her part, is seeking to raise her profile by tapping Twitter and appearing on "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart." And the network may see its influence increase after a deal between Murdoch’s Wall Street Journal and CNBC expires in 2012, allowing Fox Business to tap the newspaper’s reporters for appearances.
